Solo VU+ Solo Dead

Hi everyone,

A while ago my solo started to not boot first time when powered on, there would be a red led and I had to manually hit the reset button to start it. Then it would boot normally.

Eventually it developed into a solid red light and no boot at all.

I tried the fix which involved connecting via serial:

Switch the box off, on the rear side.
choose in putty for serial connect, speed must be set to 115200 and choose you`re comport.
Put the box on, when you`re connection is oke, you wil see some text scrolling over the putty screen.
Now use the ctrl + c key to stop the booting.
copy the following line in the screen:

boot -z -elf flash0.kernel: 'rootfstype=jffs2 root=/dev/mtdblock0 rw mem=0x8000000 bcmrac=3`

The box now reboot from the flash, so watch you`re box.
Then open telnet with dcc and put in the following line.

flash_eraseall /dev/mtd5

and after that the following line

reboot -f

That worked but now I'm back to the solid red light and connecting via serial gives this mess which looks like it has a bit of corruption:

I can't do anything via serial. The box is definitely not a clone, I bought from lavatronics a couple of years ago. Does anyone have any advice? Do these symptoms suggest some sort of capacitor problem that I see others having?

Thanks

All I get from that is either:

Flashed wrong bootloader
or
Need to change capacitor

Not sure either of these apply in my case and I have also tried a lot of the other things mentioned in the thread - reflash, remove everything connected to the box and reflash, power off for hours and retry etc.

The only relevant post imo in that thread is this, which comes in reply to someone receiving similar output to mine when connected to the box via serial:

If it's the only string you obtain from your box seems that CFE (the box BIOS) doesen't start correctly.
Ask for warranty repair because you've done something wrong.

My problems have always arrived during normal use, I haven't flashed any incorrect bootloaders but they seem to get corrupted? My box is well out of warranty. Does anyone have any ideas?
