Watching a Channel and recording another

Hi all
I have a VU+ Duo 4K SE. I would have though that I can watch a program and record another. Somehow this isn't working for me. I must be doing something wrong.
I have 2 Quad LNB's over a Quad Diseq. I have 2 cables per LNB to the Diseq.
One cable going into tuner A. This is working fine. Now if I setup tuner B as equal to A. And I would have thought this is how I have multi channels at the same time.
What am I not seeing?

Thx for your help
Ian

Can you describe better how is setup your dish?
Do you have DisecQ switch near your box? How many input has? What satellite per input is designed? What tuner are connected to DisecQ?

If you have a unicable LNB, then yes, if just an ordinary LNB then you can only record, and view, channels, on that transponder.
If you fit a twin LNB, or even a quad, and run the cables, you can view other channels, while recording several different transponders.

Thanks a lot Sir, as i have understood i have to change the cable to a twin LNB ? am i right , i am so sorry, i have another question, does the function of plugin Blind Search require a twin LNB? as it does not work with 4 k FBC receivers if i am not mistaken, many thanks for your help

You shouldn't have any problems with a blind scan.
Which image are you running?

The LNB needs to be changed to a twin, two outputs, and a second cable run, to your receiver, and connected to the second tuner. A Unicable LNB is something different:
"A Unicable LNB is a technology which allows multiple users (or multiple tuners) to access satellite broadcasts over a single coaxial cable and eliminates the need for the numerous cables required by a conventional system."

An internet search will explain it in more detail.

You only told us you have one cable and one LNB. But this is a poor info. As Mick said, there are basically two types of LNB:

1) Universal LNB (the traditional ones)
2) Unicable/SCR/dCss LNBs, the most recent technology.

You need to study a little bit around the Internet this fact in technical forums, but, in few words:

1) Universal LNBs may have 1, 2 or 4 outputs but, then, you'd need 1, 2 or 4 cables from them to your box and each one shoud be connected to a different tuner (while you've got only one, I suppose).
2) Unicable/SCR LNBs, instead, have the power of being used by one cable only as they were multiple LNBs and this work particularly well with FBC tuners, like the one you've got in your Duo4K, because FBC tuners are "phisically" only one but virtually many (the ones currently showed in your tuner configuration as "FBC automatic".

So, if you have the chance of changing your LNB in your dish with a Unicable/SCR (in case is not such a LNB already), you'll be able to watch/record/PiP multiple channels by one cable only.

A SCR can be a 4 UB (User Bands or SCR "channels"), a 16 UB, 32 UB. So, it's like having an old Universal LNB with 4,16 or 32 outputs... but needing only one cable.

Many thanks to you for your useful advice and explanation , i usually use VTI image , i am a fan of this image and a fan of Vu+ receivers and this is the seventh one and i can call it Vu + Ferrari because of the speed and the exquisite picture quality , yes there is Unicable Matrix and Unicable User defined which one to adjust ? as the signal disappear if you could send me a screen shot for Astra 19 configuration i will follow all the instruction. Have a wonderful morning

This is mostly a Black Hole, and Open Black Hole, forum, and I haven't used VTI.
Which version of VTI are you using?

Have you changed your Universal LNB for an UNICABLE LNB?

Note: I am asking this, because it seems you haven´t, and you are trying to set on your STB "settings", that doesn´t match your hardware ( LNB ).

best regards

On my satellite dish the LNB is universal but it is far to reach as a multistorey building ,besides i have more than 10 satellite dishes , but when i tried to change into Unicable from the image setting as i sent you a screen shot, i managed to see some of the Astra 19 channels without problems the others were no signal,

Sorry: are you saying that you've got, in your dish, a Universal LNB but you are trying to set it up as Unicable? Did I understand well?!?
If so, it means you did not catch what we wrote: you need to change your LNB, in your dish, phisically to a Unicable one, not by the software! Otherwise, it'd be like using petrol in a diesel car!

If you have 10 satellite dishes, pointing at different satellites, you must have Diseqc switches, and need to set them up accordingly.
Can you please post more details, regarding your satellite setup, and if possible pictures.
