Hello. I saw many post about upgrading but I would like to have a precise answer about my specific case... just to be sure to not make mistakes.
I m running BH 2.0.3 and I m considering to upgrade to 2.0.6 on my solo, without loosing settings, plugins/addons,...
What is the best thing to do? Shall I go with the online update from the box or flash manual with USB stick?
Which backup shall I do to keep all the settings and favorite channels and plugin/addons? Can I keep my HDD connected during the upgrade?

Thanks in advance for your support ;)

First off, some hard facts:
A) You can not online update from 2.0.3 to 2.0.6 , online update is only for "minor" versions 2.0.3a to 2.0.3b or similar
B) If the HD is USB (since it is posted in solo1 forum, i assume it is), you must remove it during upgrade. All other USB items aswell.

If you do a personal backup, you should keep most settings, however plugins and addons and related settings might not work after. Unfortunately you never really know what will work after and what will not , until you try.
For same reason i dont use personal backups, i prefer to know what i have and what not,and start from scratch.
Channels should be handled thru a PC, my prefered program is drea mboxedit but there are others alternatives. This way you can sort channels on a PC and send them back to receiver, so after an upgrade/update, all you have to so is press "send" and all channels are back.Editing channel lists on the box is slow.

There will be some adjusting each time you upgrade, what i have done is made a checklist of things, it takes me roughly 20 minutes to do a flash, until i am back and running. I have made it in simple steps to follow,so i dont forget anything, and it is rather trivial by now. How the checklist should look like is a bit depending on what plugins and setup you have, but amongst other things, my list includes:
Universe setup on usb pen, tuner setup (channels are send from pc), network mounts, swap settings, sleep timer, harddrive setup(mount points),plugins, skins

Thank you for this. I must report a very big issue i experience with this image.

EutelSat 16A from 16East, is the only satellite i have access to and i can`t decode anymore any channel from the following transponders: 11512.25 and 12643.00. The caid should be 025900 and 025910, instead, i see 0xffffffff as caid. The card is setup ok because with older version of BH i have no problem.

I use TVR+FREESAT viaaccess card inside viacccess card reader. I think something occurred in the latest upgrades. I see the same behavior in windows dvb applications. Something is wrong with the module who parse the caid received from the satellite?! In the second card reader i have YES card and i have no issue with it... Anyone, any idea? What do you recommend? Should i replace any module on the latest image?

Thank you angelofsky for response, still, what i`m trying to say it that the caid for the channels of freesat and tvr package from 16E are bad read. i see caid 0xffffffff instead of 025900 and 025910.

Thank you Angel for the answer. Regarding the channel settings, i look all over the plugins and I don`t find any option or such functionality. Also in google i look for such thing, unfortunately, no success. I try all kind of images, VTi, openpli, BH, etc. The only version that reads the information correctly is BH 1.6.6. Unfortunately, BH 1.6.6 is outdated and the plugin management is not updated, therefore, i can`t update, download anything.

In my case i did a personal backup fromBH 2.0.5 RevB and all work perfectly : satellite and channels settings (motor with 7 sat), network settings, HDD and Lan settings and other....

I will take into consideration your case. Thanks a lot.
Just one question since I m a new on these things. I have been reading about upgrading SBT'boot loader. Do I need to do so in some specific way or is it enough for me, coming from 2.0.3, to just insert the usb with the all the content of the uncompressed zip file of the image?

I can understand the concern as a newbie and its better to clear all the doubts and gain before making any changes to the box.If your box is having BH 2.0 or above just take a personal back and install the 2.06 ( it should take 2 to 3 minutes ).after the same restore your backup. After it you can upgrade the stb online to rev c.Apart from it please note that do not distrup power while upgrading.
