Black Hole / xbmc / ftp / picons / crontab

Hi,

This post is quite long. I hope someone will take the time to help me resolve some of the problems I'm facing under Black Hole 2.1.4 as I haven't find solutions on the web for a few days...

First question : why 1920x1080 resolution is missing from xbmc configuration ?

I tried to play with xbmc but saw this trick on a forum and I wasn't able to find ".Xbmc" so decided to run xbmc.

"To be sure that Xbmc is not filling your flash, after the first Xbmc launch check your filesystem. If you have the folder .Xbmc in the root dir "/.Xbmc" you have to copy it on /media/hdd and then delete from the root."

After adding 5 tv shows on the xbmc library, I started having problems (at boot a message saying that timer.xml may be corrupt, etc). Well, I found that the reason was that the flash was full. I tried to find and delete big unuseful files using Putty (I wasn't able to connect fia ftp, as service was disabled and I could enable it) but couldn't. As I found two "xbmc" folders (one under "/usr/share/" and the second under "/usr/lib", I decided to move them via the file manager (in TS Panel) to my NAS as the box was constantly generating errors and booting. This allowed me to free some space on the flash. Xbmc no longer works. Can I install xbmc plugin from Ts panel ?

Since, I cannot enable ftp service from Ftp Panel (pressing twice blue button to access it). Does someone know how I could start it from Putty ?

Backup question :
I made a full backup from Backup menu and obtained 3 files :
root_cfe_auto.bin
kernel_cfe_auto.bin
force.update
File "force.update" is empty. Is this normal and will I be able to make a restore ?

Picons problem :
I created "picon" folder (with all picon file with png extension) on my usb stick and installed Cool Tv Guide.
I mapped the stick to /media/usb and I'm able to see picons under Cool Tv Guide but icons do not show hp on the infobar.
Does someone know how to solve this ? Can someone explain to me what's the difference to map usb stick to /media/hdd or /media/usb ? First I mapped to /media/usb but full backup didn't work so I had to map to /media/hdd.

Last question :
I created a crontab entry to run a script that loops every minute. This is the entry :
*/1 * * * * /usr/script/script.sh > /dev/null 2>&1
It runs well but doesn't when box is in sleep mode. How to run this script in sleep mode ?

Thanks a lot to all of you and have a nice day.

Jo

TS Panel not welcome here.

If you use XBMC, you MUST have some storage device mapped as /mediahdd to avoid full flash problem like problems you have had.

About backup, it's normal.

About picons, into infobar only picons supported are with Channel_ID and not other. If you have installed different picons (with Service_Name for example) it's normal that not appear into infobar.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your answers.
I don't know why Ts Panel is not welcome but if you can explain, I may uninstall it.
About picons, I found some but the services names are different. Do you know a way to generate picons (with channel_id reference) from current picons? (there should be a way as there is a link somewhere between channel_id and the displayed icon on Cool Tv guide). Then I'll have the problem that I cannot connect anymore via ftp. I'll try to find a solution to this problem.
About XBMC, I have a usb stick mapped to /media/hdd but I don't know how to force xbmc to save data there. Now I'm no longer able to run XBMC as I moved the two folders. I should move them back from my nas to the box but I'm pretty sure it sill fill my flash... hmmm.

Thank you again for your prompt answer :)

TS Panel is not welcome in this board because it do the possibility to download illegal material like emu not welcome here.
I have no experience about picons. I use usually the packages avaiable on BH Addon Server and they are based on Service ID and works perfectly with InfoBar.
About XBMC you should start it only after mapping some storage device (HDD is welcome in this situation) into /media/hdd. .xbmc folder is HIDDEN so you must enable hidden folder show into FTP client.

I suggest to reflash and restart again to customize your box.

Hi,

I tried to flash again the box with two different usb sticks and it doesn't work.
When I received my box, I formated a usb stick in fat32 and extracted the Black Hole zip file (there were 3 files inside).
I plugged the stick on the back of the box and just booted it. This installed the image.
Now, it doesn't work. The box boots but the image doesn't install. The box boots normally.
I tried to copy files to /vuplus and to /vuplus/solose and it doesn't work.
I'm using the same stick as first time.
I didn't find a solution on the web.
Oups.

Hi,

I made a full format of the stick instead a quick format AND removed all the cables from the box appart the Hdmi and I managed to install the image :)
I confirm that renaming picons with the Channel_Id, they now display on the infobar.
About folder ".Xbmc", I already configured Filezilla in order to show hidden files but wasn't able to find it. I didn't try to run Xbmc yet but I created a Symlink ".xbmc -> /media/hdd" so I hope it will work. Wouldn't it be better to save Xbmc data into usb instead of hdd (if I remember well, Xbmc will save all banners, artwork, covers there... ?).

Thanks again for your help. Take care.
