Vu+ DUO doesn't respond to remote control

Hi All,

Something very worrying, my VU+ doesn't respond to the remote control anymore. Batteries are new. When pointing the remote, the light at the top left of the vfd doesn't come on anymore. Rebooted couple of times, no difference. Have turned off the box altogether and will try later.

Anybody ever had that problem?

Thanks a lot

First try with flash, put again new BH images. If it not fix, problem is probably hardware- sensore on display or remote controler. :(

On the box display, what are you reading? "Vu+Duo", the Channel name or something other things?
If you have connected an USB pendrive, disconnect it and reboot your bxo without the device.
You should sovle your problem and your pendrive is not a good device for Duo box.
I have the same problem with two usb sticks :( I've solved with another stick (4Gb).

Thanks guys, I have tried with a couple of remotes, have several for multi room and all the same result. I will try the stick but I watched the TV this morning and all was fine, have the stick for 10 months now and no issue.
The box actually randomly responds to remote commands but it seems to pick one by pressing very long and then that's it.

Cheers

When rebooting the box if the display show "starting" and don't go on to "Vu+Duo", the remote control will not work. if you have a USB pendrive disconnect it, like angelosky1980 said, and turn off the back on/off button at least 15 seconds and then turn on again to reboot the box. If doesn't work try another new batteries.

Really weird, I always get the Vu+Duo on the vfd at startup. after I did the unplug and plug back last night, all worked well, before I went to bed I tried the box and it wouldn't respond to the remote again. Slept on it and this morning all was working again, really strange.

If you have still left USB stick in the box then it will repeat the same
problem.
So pull out the USB stick so you wont have problems
As we have already written dozens of times on the forum.
You can use FAT32 mounted USB stick but not ext3 formated
stick.
If you use multiboot then you should format ext3
but Read more info in section meoboot and usb stick.
And how to prepare a USB stick that works in multiboot.
(I use dual partition ext3+Fat32 on my test USB stick and never locked remote and boot.
is not the case when i have only ext3 partitions on it)

If you do not use multiboot use only FAT32 formatted USB stick
and only Mounted but not formatted with the BH devices manager
and it will work great for picons ,epg etc but not for multiboot.

Do you have a lamp with an energy saving light bulb ? If yes switch the lamp or light off and see if the problem goes.

It did it again today intermitently. I have unplugged the uesb stick and no response at all from box after several reboots. I am afraid to flash a new image as I would be stuck in setup altogether if remote doesn't work. Really thinking my box is fecked. Any idea, is the energy saving bulb a joke btw?

Thanks Matrix 10, I know about Fat32, thing is I use the usb stick for timeshift and that won't work with fat32, 4.5gb max filesize. I have been using my stick for 8 months now in ext3 and never had a problem. I went through a couple of sticks before finding the right one, Corsair flashvoyager 8 gb.

Ok, figured it out. Should have been the first thing to check :(. I have an IR extender with the sensor glued right to the IR sensor on the VU+. I guess the IR has gone kaput, I removed it and remote works again, so nothing wrong with box, pffew. Of to getting a new extender next week.
Thanks again for all your help.

TTTTHHHHHAAAAAANNNNNNKKKKKKSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the remote sensor in Vu+ is really sensible. Last year I had strange problems with remote control and I was really going crazy. The problem was that the air conditioning remote control "freezed" the box and the Vu+ didn't respond anymore....

I have had this IR sensor in the same place for 12 months and suddenly last week my problems started so I hear what you say about the sensitivity of the box, I am just not sure this is my problem here. Anyway, I will purchase a new IR extender, then I'll know for sure if it cures it.

I have same problem first time from I bought my VU+duo.
I have last 1.6.2 fiinal in flash and RC block, not work. I restarted box and RC worked again but just 30-40minutes and after that same problem but now have red light on vu display permanently. RC no answer.
I come back to BH 1.6.2 beta for now, because I can detect what is a problem (maybe in new drivers) because 14 mounths I had not any problem with my USB ( 100 mb fat32 and rest of space ext3 )...
