Hello,
I've a Zero4K and i did a fresh install of openbh-4.4.001.release-vuzero4k_usb_release_42cd9fee.
After installing o lost smb access (\\vuzero4k) from my win10 machine. It asks for user and pwd and i can't find a way to access it. (tried every thing - root, enigma, vuplus, etc).
Also updated to 008 version, but not luck.
I've set the pwd right after installed the img this it doesn't work for this access (AFAIK pwd should be only for ftp/ssh).
It works normally on version 4.3...
FTP access works normally...anyone experienced the same issue?
Thanks

How did you set your password, on your VU+ Zero 4K?
Did you do it via the network menu, and password, or by using a program like PuTTY?

The username is always root, and you need to set a new password, after flashing a fresh Open Black Hole 4.4, to get various programs to work, like Filezilla, dreamboxEdit, etc...

Use telnet or similar and just type
passwd
because it assumes you are changing the password for the root user.
Type it twice. How did you set the password in the previous OBHs?

I only set the pwd via the network menu and it works on ssh and ftp.
I'm going to follow your suggestions and give the feedback.
Thanks

The question is explained, it is necessary to define a passwd for OBH 4.4! Just do what's in # 763.

Here's what i've tried so far, without success.

- New flash, open Network and set new password
- Access with putty using the new password, set another passwd
- Access with putty, set new passwd and smbpasswd
- Checked mount config (set to /media/hdd)

None of this worked.
I still can access though ftp and putty, but not through \\IPBOX

Any more ideas?

OK it working again...i had to change the IP address...with the previous IP I was using it doesn't work, so i assigned a new IP and it work now...
Honestly i don't understand why the IP i've been using since ever doesn't work...but anyway...it's working now...

The most practical way, in my opinion, is on the router to have an IP assigned to the equipment... then, each time a new image, is placed in the network settings is to turn off the DHCP into the equipment.

Assigning a static IP in the router is redundant if you disable DHCP in the image ;)
When you disable DHCP in the image, you choose the IP box and that's all.
Instead, if you assign a static IP in the router through the Mac address of the box, you don't need to disable also the DHCP in the box.

When disables the DHCP soon with the additional configuration options visible on the receiver. Of course it will be indifferent to whether or not the active DHCP on the receiver if on the router is already set that IP will have.

there is an update 4.4.009 but unfortunately, as before, something is being done but the version marker remains unchanged ...

Version is correctly reported but, as coders said many other times in the past, not reading the new name does not mean the update was not applied.
How did you update, by the GUI or by the command line? It's always somewhat "safer" to update by command line.

if you have a broken image ,don't forget you can use the telnet command and update/fix image.

opkg update && opkg upgrade
