count me to the list with red light of death
i will replace the cap with a new but searching on net i found that some guys replace it with 220mf/16v, matrix said 330mf/16v and some 330mf/25v
as i am not a electronic guy i am a little confused
which is the better solution ? i understand that 330mf/16v maybe is better but a little explain for the differnce in 16v vs 25v please

and thanks to all for this thread

16V or 25V means maximum tension allowed. Higher is better , should lasts longer.

defently you dont have to be sorry couse from this that card will be alive again
i dont even remeber that i have it and now i 'll fix it again (with exactly the same cap) and put it to my nas for playing mpd
i live in a village and have to wait 4-5 days until that capacitor arrive to me, so i choose this way
happy duo, happy SB and happy me :)

Higher voltage is indeed better (more margin) without side-effects functionally seen. It also means more expensive from mass production point of view and often also bigger physically. The last thing to look at when replacing as it may not fit or touch other components which it should not.

hi
my vu+du red light and just i have 5volt in power supply
other volt is off
please helpme
There are webshops selling spare PSU's (Power Supply Units) for Dreambox and VU+) look for one of those. There are also mail-in shops which do repair faulty STB's. Repairing a PSU or replacing with a difefrent unit is a specialist job.

It may be covered by an insurance? Look at that.
The box in fact may have serious damages. Don't spend to much money at intentions to repair it yourself.

I am sure the regulator reg3 (No3 on photo) is dead (burned). On duo it's marked Pz 1021ai and universal name isAOZ1212 (cf previous post).
I have to remove it and replace it with the 330 uF but I don't know where to weld (souder) the 330 uF (1 pin of the 330 uF at the place of the Vin pin (pin 7) ? and the other one at the place of the fx pin (pin 1) ?. I don't know on wich pins I have to do that. It's a little bit chineze for me.

It should be easier for me if somebody could tell me : sample
Remove the aoz2012
You take the 330 uF and you weld (souder) it at the place of pin 1 and pin 8
connect the pin 4 and 2 and 5 together

I know that for electronician, it may look strange, but for me, it's the only way I can understand.

Thanks
Where is the photo?????!

Another victim of C807
where is the album????!??!
Some days before Christmas, my Vu+ Duo was freezed, when re-powered on appear to be slowly.
I have tried to disconnect the hard disk, but when the CPU was working high, the decoder they freeze again.
After a short search, i have found this thread, i have replaced C807, now all is working good.

I have cutted the original capacitor and soldered on a new, a 220 micro Farad, 50V and 105°C, with superior characteristics respect the original.

Photo from 1 to 5 : localize and identify C807

Photo 6 e 7 : original capacitor removed, 220 micro Farad, 16V , 85°C

Photo 8: leads of original capacitor trimmed

Photo 9: spare capacitor, 220 micro Farad, 50V, 105°C

Photo 10: preparing the solder tin on the leads of spare capacitor

Photo from 11 to 13: spare capacitor soldered on old leads

Update: i replaced 3 capacitors inline 220uf 16v with x3 330uf 16v and it booted again from first power on.
Thanks again for all infos here :D
So to be clear to other community members about my failed capacitors. i could still sell them for new and get money from them they look and feel like new but they fail so even if you are 100% that they have nothing wrong still replace them! Surely you wont regret it! it cost me for 3 about €0.60 lol so is €0.20 each.

Hi
I have almost similar problem with two boxes:

Box #1:
Switches to stand-by once or twice a week.

Box #2:
Switches off within 24 hours.. This box is offline (no LAN).

Anybody have experiences with these issues?
Could the same solutions also apply here?
