Best image for the Solo2

Hi, i have just purchased a new Solo2 and was wondering what other members think that the best image is for this box, i am new to this forum and i hope that i am posting in the right place, i have to say that i am well impressed with the amount of support that there seems to be for the Vu+ boxs, and this Forum is Great.

No one can tell you what's best for you. You should test several and realize which one fits your needs best.

Yes BH image is very good last version 2.0.3 you find in topic about solo2 try install this image and you see how good is this image.
If you will be have question please write on forum i think all help you ........

The best of the rest? What other images have U tested? For me BH2.0.2E is good enough, but 2.0.3 is not. It's speed and hyperspace is due to the less number of useful plugins embedded ( compared to 2.0.2) and it has definite problems with a hardware and software due to the new Linux kernel used.

What problems do you have with new kernel?
I hate these kind of psots WITHOUT infos abt problems.

If I understood well
image is for you not good because it does not work well with your SSD ???

those who have a serious problem with bh 2.0.3 can be counted on the fingers

Not only. The declared support of DTS-HD does not work. Some people reported that there are even problems with AC3. I cannot use Meoboot with 2.0.3 to test other images, unless they are based on 3.3.8 kernel too. Similar to angelofsky 1980, I hate the declared 'Great improvements of image quality' without the comparison of two pictures (screenshots). I doubt that software enhancements of PQ with BH 2.0.3 can be superior to the enhancements available in most modern TVs or AV receivers :D

Abt dts-hd I've made tests in the past prior to declared support and now with 2.0.3 and it's a good step for me because in the past dts-hd audio tracks don't play. Now they are streamed in PCM mode but they are perfect.
Another situation are the dts-hd audio tracks with some options enabled. There is a dedicated thread about it.

I hope will be more development about it from vu+

It is not true that you can not test some images even have a old kernel.
Of course do not work 100% but they were never able to work 100%
outside the flash.

I have an idea
I will propose coder to expel/remove MeoBoot from image.

Precisely because of those who do not understand one thing
and that is that MeoBoot is experimental addition to image \ and that it can not
give 100% support for different images, because of differences in images.
So be happy at all if you can install an image.

It is true that there are improvements in image quality.
Now what is it large or small improvement is of course for discussion.
Specifically HD quality already at the very beginning was good
Of course every minor improvement is a big step forward.

@ angelfosky and @matrix I think there is no reason for such defensive reaction. There are certain issues with BH as there are with all other images. None is perfect and completely without bugs. Fact that you do not experience a certain bug does not mean that those who do are BSing U. That's why the constant development is so important to improve each and every image. On the other hand, each and every user has different needs and requirements, therefore someone claiming that BH is the best or without bugs is not very reasonable. It depends on the user and their needs. See my first comment in this thread. For me it's BH, for others, it may be other image... No offense :)

Not well understood,

MeoBoot has no bug at least not declared bugs.
It was never made to be able to install 100% all images (1:1) and to support 100% the installation of other images in multiboot.
It is a nice addition that allows you to test some images.

Of course it becomes irritating
complaints among the same as MeoBoot does not work because that's other images have an old kernel .

The fact that the VU + made ​​improvements in picture quality is 100% accurate
and to be confirmed by anyone who is able to make an analysis and comparison.
Now if it's a little or not BH 2.0.3 has a better picture.

I was not talking about meoboot or anything particular - just generally.

I understand what you mean quite well - I am saying very similar thing.
I completely agree with you that there is no need to prove to anyone - as I said - if someone's needs made an image more suitable for them, so shall they use whatever they prefer. there is no such thing as best image - everyone has different requirements and that was what I tried to explain to the author of this thread.

Make only a smile on upper comments :) . They were done at late night and some of people were really tired :sleep: .

If you don't have an experience with Vu+ or other Linux boxes, try to play for couple of days with original Vu+ image to discover it's world.
Next flash BH 2.0.3.
I tried about 8 different images (I checked also support quality/response times and so on) and by my opinion, summing all stuff which is related to image, not only image itself, the winner is BH.
Thats why I'm here.

PS: Have fun with BH. ;)

Beerhunter, among all versions of BH images 2.0.2E is the best due to its compatibility with many hardware and plugins.
I tried ALL available images (more than 20, including various versions) and in my opinion there are at least 4 images as good as BH 2.0.2E.
One of them has excellent skins, another has excellent plugin, etc. No one of them is the best (winner). paolino makes me smile too:)
