Thanks for the reply's everyone. I've tried 4 usb sticks and quick formatted and slow formatted each to no avail.
Should I just stick to the old image? It would be nice to have a modern image with all the extra features but this is beating me down!
It used to run openvix 2.4 image.
Also to get it to read anything on the usb, I have to copy and paste each section of the folder to the front page or it just flashes up 'reading usb' but then proceeds straight to starting, is that normal?

Try to flash the Original Vu+ image!

But before U do any thing,,, shut down the STB ,,,,by power-off for 1 hour,,,and re start installation!

hello all hope some can help?
I have been having some problems since 2.02 update my harddrive randomly disapering as well as my usb stick.
i can still record and see my picons from my stick but if i try to download epg or personal back up or go into black hole speed up when the hard drive is not viseable in the blue X 2 device manager it crashes.
this is goning on a fare bit nowand I always try to reslove it my slef before buging anyone here.
here is a crash log when i tried to acess black hole speed up when the hard drive and usb stick werent visable in device manager

you have overloaded your duo.
it cannot allocate memory.
remove all skins and plugins you don't need and activate a swap file.
Better install a fresh image (don't use personal backup) and install only what is strictly necessary removing all the rest with bh speed up.

My problem with meoboot is: i can not choose the installed images with my good working Remote control, the up-down buttons dont work. In the bootet image the remote works normal.
In an Image with meoboot i choose to boot a different image, and it works ok.

Thanks for the reply. I have reinstalled from scratch most plugins are gone in device speed up! Only the 3 plugins I have icefilms 1channel and on demand,
Still the same hard drive and USB stick disappears from the device manger and if I try to download EPG it fails if I try to acess blue hole speed up= green screen Hard reset = green screen universe or teleportation = green screen and so on.
If I turn off power and back on some time it reappears.
I can always still record and see Picons.
It some thing todo with when it disappears from blue x2 device manager.
And when I go down to hard drive setting it seems to be always on standby even when I have it set for 2 hours or 4 hours never standby?

Are you using an hub for your devices ?
have you setup a swap file ?

My hard drive is internal usb stick has a powers HUD DVBS2 powered hub DVB-T powered Hub
No swap files
Hbbtv disabled meoboot disabled as well of 80% of the plugins in black hole speed up.
It just seems that the Hard drive and USB stick just keep going asleep.
But as I said Picons and record and watching movies on the hard drive works no probs!
Iam so pulling my hair out at this stage.

my next door nieghbour has a DUO and he has the exact same problem 2.0.2 rev D
I will give it a go cant see why all memory is used up not much in plusins or systems plugins.

Memory in duo is no very big this is reason why he see near all memory used.
I have on my box setup 64mb swap and all work good ; im no see biger problems in used this box.

Tried to set up swap file but it says swap file creation failed check for available space.
My hard drive automaticity goes into standby and so does my USB stick it does not even apair in BH Device Manager.

No your usb cannot go in standby this is not the problem.
They disappear only because the image cannot allocate memory to read device informations so nothing is shown in device panel.

I do not know why you make yourself a problem.
Install a clean image.
Just like on a computer.

I already wrote in an earlier post
that there will be problems with the flash and memory
on the older boxes,especially on solo and duo

Which means that you have to be very picky what you install and activate within the image.

I think that we in the BH team have to take more account
with this problem in future images.
And we have to remove some additions from the basic image
with the possibility of adding.
Of course, this will not completely solve the problem,
if users do not take into account the size of flash and RAM,
when adding and EPG download.
Images and addons become large,
Deleting does not help if some files remain within the image.


It is my opinion
we have not talked about within the team with a Coder.
But I think that my friend Shiro has a similar opinion.

This is not a flash problem but a ram problem related to epg.
Install a fresh image and create a 256M swap before of all and before install settings and download epg.

Yes, Likely that this problem is RAM
But I've seen the problems that are flash problem,in some other posts and cases
not only on this forum and image.
Which means they are both present.
This is because some people do not know or do not takes care of addons installation.
Thinking that it is a bottomless reservoir.

Check your USB!
I think the problem is there!
Try a new one or re formatted and then mounted again!
Use HDD for epg saving...I found it to be the best choice....I have NO crashes...since I've done that....(My STB is Duo)!

Matrix10 thank you for yor response,
I have been a black hole user now for about 2 years, so I do know to just keep adding plugins so on.
I have only tree adding as stated above I will take all advice above and report back thank you.

I do not know exactly what is the reason for the lack of RAM.
But the fact is that you have in log information about the lack of RAM.

We should not forget that image two years ago and now not have the same
requirements. Same goes for some plugins, but especially for the EPG
Now if it is or is not the reason of course I do not know.

Basically I wanted to say
that these boxes are doing, still really good
provided that you leave space for stable operation.
