Hello lads,

I just got myself a new Vu Solo. I connected all basic cable for viewing, switched on the box, the image screen is stuck on "loading.....". Its been nearly half hour on that "loading status". What is happening? Is this a norm to all Vu Solo users?

Thanks for your support

No, it usually boots up quite quickly.
Did you load the image, or has someone done it for you?
Try disconnecting it, for a minute, then re-connecting it and powering up.
Do you have the settings backed up, in case you need to re-load the image?
What image are you using?

Mornin Mick,

Basically I just got started with cfe file, before uploading image. I have unplugged the cable from the socket and powered it on. After that all it does is flicking the green light on continuously. On my usb, I have the file loaded as vuplus/solo/cfe...bin. What am I doing wrong?

After flash the CFE, you must reflash a newest image.

The problem so far I can't even tell if the cfe flashed correctly. The tv screen is black with a loading sign bottom right of it

Remove the USB, from your receiver, format it, then load an image, like Black Hole, and try loading that, on your receiver.
Why did you load the cfe file? Was the bootloader out of date?

I loaded the cfe file presuming that solo had no firmware on it. At this point can I assume that it's okay to load an image file right away?

Without seeing your receiver I can't answer that.
Providing you loaded the correct bootloader, for your receiver, then I can't see any reason why not.
You see the bootloader version, on starting the receiver, it runs across the front display, of your receiver.
Try loading the latest Black Hole image, but first read the instructions.

I had a quick thought and checked the sat dish, the green light on the motor was off. So which means that no power from the motor was getting to the new solo. So I changed the receiver back to TM5200 series and the dish started rotating again. Now I get where the problem lies, the TM motor not powering the solo receiver. Is this a norm?

According to your first statement the receiver isn't booting up, so you haven't yet flashed an image or set the tuner up.
Have you attempted to load an image yet?
Please do the basics before thinking that there is a problem with the receiver, and motor.

Hello Mick,

I have factory resetted the solo and gone through wizard steps. Set a default tuner as hotbird. At this point, do I still have to use the cfe file or get an image file uploaded?

Thanks

Never use the CFE file, this is the bootlader, only used very occasionally, when an upgrade is required.
This is similar to a BIOS upgrade, on a PC, you might often update Windows, or other operating system, but very rarely update your Motherboards BIOS.
It sounds like you already have an image installed, as you have the wizard screen.
Can you please find out what is loaded on your receiver. Try going into the menu and look for the information option.
If you have a decent image installed you just need to set up the motor. You are probably using USALS so you'll need your latitude, and longitude, which should be the same as in your TM5200, but you could try a site like dishpointer.com, to get a reading, by entering your postcode, and zooming in on the map.

I just went into the info tab,i do have globecast. My motor is in Diseq mode as I prefer it motorised, less hassle playing with lat n longitude. So now,how do I increase the strength signal of the channel I want to test?

Cheers

Also on service info tab, the PIDS on vid, audio, txt, pmt are N/A,which means I don't have the image yet. Do I scan via tuner status or.......

cheers

If using Diseqc 1.2 you need to use your receivers motor options, to move your dish, then store the position, when you have the maximum signal quality, and you have to do this for all the satellites you view.
There are quite a variety, of images, available, to choose from. I'm using Black Hole, as it seems to have a lot of options I like, but is slightly more complex to set up.
You can try various images then decide which you prefer, or read reviews, by other members, and decide which might suit your needs better.

I ve looked into service searching, there is no receiver motor options nor satfinder tab like in the manual. My Diseqc motor is still off, even though I've enabled most of its option in tuner default. I'm few inches away to do it right. Please don't give up on me mate.

cheers

Each image is slightly different, regarding setting up, in Black Hole, for Diseqc 1.2, you go into the menu, Setup, Service Searching, Tuner Configuration, Tuner A, set the configuration mode to advanced, select the satellite, scroll to the second page and set USALS to No, then configure the Diseqc 1.2 settings.
My setup is a lot different to yours, I'm using a VU+ Duo2, a V-Box II, and a 36v motor, as well as having the Black Hole image loaded.
The first thing you need to do is work out which image you prefer and load the latest version.
If you want to practise, with whatever is currently loaded, then you need to find the motor settings, which might be in the tuner options, then try manually moving your dish, East/West, using the Diseqc 1.2 options and the left/right arrows.
You might want to try using the USALS options, as these are easier to setup, once you have your correct latitude, and longitude, but once Diseqc 1.2 is set up, and working, you souldn't notice the difference.
Keep trying, and don't get too tired, or frustrated, always take a break, if somethings not working correctly, and try again later.

Finally I just got the Diseqc motor flashing, scan in progress. Hopefully fruits of labour will come out :). I'll take a break for now. Its been educational. Thanks to you mate. Catch up later.

Good night.

I've just had a search, through the Black Hole menu options, and found this:
Menu, Setup, System Searching, Positioner Setup.
In positioner setup I have the option to enter a frequency, by selecting the Tune option, and pressing the red button, once completed I can press OK, then move down to Positioner Movements, and use the green button, to move the motor West, and the yellow button, to move the motor East.
Once I have located the satellite I can use the fine tune option, to maximize the signal, then the store option, to save it.
