video playback problems using black hole 2.0.9

im using the latest Black Hole 2.0.9.

i have a nas connected to the vu duo2, and there has never been problems to Watch Movies from my nas on my old dreamboxes, the video has been completely smooth and free from lag.

but with my new vu duo2 with black hole 2.0.9 i have alot of lags when i try to Watch Movies, the easiest way to see it is when the camera sweeps from one side to Another or when there is a moving objekt in the move.

there is a very clear lagging/freezing every 2 seconds, i have tried different Movie players/centers and mkv, avi, divx but there all the same.

could someone help me with this?
what can be the problem?
is there a driver issue?

the satellite channels works just great, no freezing or lag, only when i try to Watch a Movie..

thanks

What kind of movies are you playing? I use every day my NAS connected to Vu+ boxes and my videos are ok without lag/freeze (I'm using Wifi connection from box to router and gigabit connection from router to NAS).

thank you for your answer.

i use cat6 cable from box to gigabit switch/router and to nas(readynas ultra) so there is gigabit all the way.

i also have a lg smart tv, and when i use the built in mediaplayer in the tv i have no problem at all,its just the vu duo2, and with my old dm8000 there is no problem when i connect it the same way that the vu duo2 is connected.

to me it seems like a driver issue.

What kind of media files do you play?

I do have the same issue with my Solo 2. All movies I tried to play are not as smooth as on my Panasonic LED TV hooked up to USB hard drive. All TV channels works perfectly smooth. I observed one thing: you can play around with refresh rate on your BH A/V settings. You can choose from 50/60 Hz or Multi. For me 50Hz gave me best results but still far away from playing smooth.

I haven't tried other images. This is my first tuner and first image. I though that hardware is not powerfull enough because I had no other images to compare with.

my old dreambox with a 400mhz processor made the job without any problem, so the vu suo should do it just fine, this must be driver related,
does anyone know if its possible to get in Contact with the makers of black hole?

On 60Hz in A/V settings playback seems 95% smooth but I have feeling that on my TV it's still smoother. It's hard to see a difference at the first time but every certain period of time you can see small slowdowns while playing from Solo2. I think this might have something to do with TV refresh rate as I use Intelligent frame Creation at its Maximum settings. I had similar problem when I had my PC connected to TV until I found proper video decoder which was rendering movie 100% smooth (madVR).

I found an solution: Menu/Settings/Auto resolution - Tick Yes
In the settings I turned on 1080p24 -Yes. and now my all blu-Ray rips with 23,976 fps or 25 Fps HBO TV series play 100% smooth.

Nice work!!

it worked for me too, i can sometimes notice very small freezing, alost not noticeable, have you tried other settings in this menu?

i tried openvix and the first thing i tried after installation was the Movie playback, and it worked freez free, but after i installed all the sattelites (8lnb´s) and had made a channel search, i got the problem back whe playing the video files.

very stange.

so i Went back to blackhole.

I haven't yet, because I just find it out yesterday night. That's true: there is very tiny lag but I can live with that. I'm quite satisfied with the way it plays mkv's now. I don't think there is much left to do to fix that. Did you notice that small lag on Vix image as well ? What TV do you have ?

yes i Think it was almost the same Micro lag, i have an LG led tv.

but sorry to say that i now experiance a Little lagging when i Watch the ordinary tv channel, really enoying, is there any other setting that can be made to get the channels to run smoothly?

I have Panasonic on LG panel. You can go to A/V settings/refresh rate 50Hz. I think with IFC (intelligent frame creation) turned on maximum that gives me a lot less image distortion than on 60Hz or Multi (less artifacts). There is constant lagging which an eagle eye like mine can clearly see, but that occurs in unknown time and place for me (it's like you would notice a rapid FPS drop in PC game which lasts a split second every minute or two. You can clearly see that image is not as fluid as it should be in that specific second). I recorded some TV program with that kind of FPS drop and no matter what refresh rate or settings I tried to use, that freez always occurs at the same time.

Well, I'm playing with different settings from a while but I still can't figure out what is causing this.

i have tried with both 50Hz and 60Hz and also auto mode, when i use 50Hz i get a smoother image but i still get freezes.

its like this, when i use 1080p24 -Yes settings, videofiles works great, but when i turn on a sat channel i get Micro freezing, BUT if i restart the box, the sat channels works just great, until i once again turn on mediaplayer and play a video file which still works great, and the freezing begins again on the sat channels.

so i need to do a reboot every time ive seen a Movie file, just to get the sat channels freeze free.

I know about it. This is because every time when you exit from media player, the refresh rate comes back from 24Hz to 60Hz even when you have manually set it to 50Hz in the A/V settings. All you need to do if you want to avoid restarting the whole box every time is going to A/V settings and change the refresh rate (for instance: 50->60-> and then back to 50Hz) and that will give you exact same result as restarting box. I don't know why refresh rate doesn't come back to its original value from A/V setting after playback from Media player. This bug need to be fixed in future image if developers are aware of it, but I don't think they are.

wow! thanks man!

so the auto mode dont work here?

do you know if theres any donwloadable plugin that can fix this 50Hz-60Hz-50Hz?

i guess that many other vu+ owner have this issue as well, anyone else that know how to fix this?

i hope that the developers are visiting this forum, and they might fix this problem.

For some reason it won't go back to proper setting. This could be easily fixed in the code I think because all it needs to be done is quick restarting GUI refresh rate on exiting from Media player as you are getting by changing from 50->60Hz in A/V setting. I just installed new drivers and I'm testing.
