After successfully updating BlackHole universe to 2.0.2 revA, all other universes find no update available and they still stay on 2.0.2
Any ideas on that?

As far as I know
BH universe is the basis of other universes
and it is not complete and independent image
but only users part of the image.

Good evening my friends, after yesterday i installed this last image of 202 from 201,today i had some time to check about this new image, and i found that i am having problems from the network section....when i am doing the BH network test all the test is giving me good but the last one of Nameserver is giving me Unconfirmed. I tried for several times in the day to install the image from the begining but after a time the Namserver comes again Unconfirmed . Now i went again for the older image again of 201 and everything ok.

Thanks to our BH team about the upgrade and the fix...now it's ok and my network solved. Thanks again :thanks::notworthy::yahoo:

Meoboot is what on a PC would be a Multi-Boot configuration. It provides a user choice at booting time for various operating systems with different releases and/or patches.
Parallel Universes on the other hand is the PC equivalent of Multi Users defined on a single OS. All users share the same OS and patches but configurations and applications made available will differ per user. Just like on the PC using a simple labeling interface the various Universes could also be personalized like: Dad, Mike, Gloria and Peter.

Be aware that Enigma OS and hardware related changes must be done from within the Black Hole Universe. This is different on a PC where this is done implicitly in a transparant way.

I am familiar with what Meoboot and what Parallel Universes are...
In previous versions of BH, I was able to update each universe separately, and the Information panel displayed the version of the updated image. That means when I updated - let's say - Avalon universe then the appropriate packages were downloaded and in the Information panel I could check that the updated version was displayed. The same applied for every universe, including Blackhole universe of course...

What I noticed with version 2.0.2 is that Blackhole universe is normally updated, but every other universe can't find the update to revA.
The only solution I could find (and I followed) was to update Blackhole universe and then do a Big Bang. After that, every universe is updated in revA, and it is confirmed in the Information panel. The disadvantage of that method is that I had to setup Avalon universe from the beggining (I used to setup Avalon for everyday use)...
Another solution could be to make a personal backup of other universes, then restore after updating Blackhole and initializing a Big Bang. But this gave me green screens. I hope I have the time to investigate this during weekend...

So, I settled with the following setup which seems to be the more stable and comfortable use of BlackHole image for my needs:
- BlackHole 2.0.2 revA in flash, nothing extra installed (plugins etc) and used as a "base" for Meoboot and Parallel Universes (Parallel Universes are important for me as I want to be able to try different plugins or extras and try some linux tweaks for my Uno)
- BlackHole 2.0.2 revA in Meoboot for everyday use (instead of using Avalon as I was used to do up to now)

This way I have maximum functionality and fun with my STB and I can update everything with no side-effects when BlackHole team will release future minor updates for 2.0.2...

Thanks dimfil!
This is exactly what I needed to know. It was the reason for me not to update yet to BH 2.0.2 version(s).

My suggestion to the BH Team is:
As a first action enhance the Backup/Restore plugin with Universe Awareness.
+ It should be visible from the filename from which universe the backup is.
+ It should be possible to backup all 4 universes independently.
+ A restore to a diferent universe should still be possible but only after a warning prompt has been confirmed.
You need this when moving between releases and as we just learned also with revision updates.

Next a look could be had how Revisions interact with deployment of universes and the messages diplayed. That Revision updates only apply to the base Black Hole universe is understandable. As this is the base code being cloned. That this is also obvious for everybody using a VU+ I doubt very much.

Hello,
I installed the new image BH 2.0.2 Meoboot Revenge then I do the BH update online (220 packages downloaded in my STB), VU + asked me to restart I click on ok and I had a green screen (crashlog) I have seen the reflash then I remade an update and the image is stuck on booting blackhole ...
I've never had problems with different update but then I do not understand why when I do the update online my vu + restart does not want.
Thanks, Sofiane.

Did you do a mount via Blue Panel for your HDD? If not done, your plugins will work with the HDD but recording will fail. It will show in some panels though which is a kind of confusing for none Linux people like myself.
My experience is also that EXT3 should be used for the format and not NTFS.

Thank you for reply. I have mounted the HDD via Blue Panel and all plugins are working perfectly but recording fail. Some screem shots are here

You did not give a print of your disk mountings yet. Just of the recording paths (=default).
The HDD should be mounted to "/hdd/movies" to match this.
Blue => Blue => Device Manager (make a print of that panel) => Red (Mountpoints) to change settings

Does this happen also on FTA (Free To Air ) channels? Just to exclude problems in that area.
If FTA recordings don't work either then you will need help from an indepth specialist on this board. Plenty of friendly people around.

Thank you very much. I have installed Device Manager from Extensions. I have unamounted the HDD and then mounted as default. Problem is solved.
