Vu Duo wont boot up after X amount of time

Hi guys,

Really enjoy this great forum, currently got the latest BH image on my duo, i have this annoying problem though...it seems that after a few hours of the VU+ being on standby (and no channels being recorded) that the LCD display turns off and when I press the power button on the remote control, nothing happens.

How can I prevent that from happening?

in BH Sleep Timer i have set up like this:

Shutdown STB after 58 mins
Timer status : Disabled
Action: Disable Timer
Sleep timer action : Standby
Ask before shutdown: yes

I think you could have the start of capacitor failure.

I have come across after years of using the Vix image, fancied a change maybe its the method of powering up from deep standby do i have to hold the power button down on remote ? or is it instantaneous

Is it possible to disable deep standby so the box always goes into normal standby

How old is the duo

Going to do it now using this..

330uf 25v 105

It's just c807 to swap.
So will this fix the deep standby issue

It's OK to use 330uf 50v it's just physically bigger capacitor

No, what problem do you have with the solo ?

Red light issue won't boot up I was going to change the Capacitor on it

I have 2 x 470uf 25v 105c

Ok after a lot of Hasstle I have manage to re solder the new capacitor, the box seems to have lost settings and channels epg etc all lost do I need to re.flash

How do I know of the capacitor I installed has worked properly please help quite desperate

I would reflash and see if your problem is gone.

Yep just doing that now was a real pain in arse to solder.

Just for peace of mind if the soldering went wrong and a good connection was not possible woyld the box not start up, I guess what am saying is if the capacitor is not fixed to motherboard woyld the box not work. I just want to know if the solder process worked as the box is running...

If you did not solder well then there is every chance the box wont boot any more.
