You have to look at Prismcube like a "CULT" and "COOL" new box, to explore and to support in his in its growth.

I agree partially. I don't see PrismCube as a "cult" or "cool" receiver but more as a young receiver which is based on a new concept while we must remember that E2-receivers are stable and solid by now. PrismCube will gradually be evolving and it will surely take some time to reach the level of perfection and flexibility as current E2 receivers. However, as mentioned in my previous post, Marusys and their engineers are dedicated and very committed. Then if you add support from various teams such as BH, gradual support from plugin-developers and so forth, I think we will end up with a great product.

It should be noted that at ANGA I saw another product (apparently a new brand that I have never heard about before) very similar to PrismCube (E2+XMBC). Believe it or not, Marusys told me they were positive about this fact and saw it is as an advantage :) However, we should keep in mind that Marusys (and Vu+) has been been in this field for a long time and over time has created all the stuff that compliments a product i.e. support, distribution-network, support from teams, etc - all things that distinguish an alternative and unknown product from a leading brand such as Marusys/Vu+.

I see it like a "cult" box because i have seen it to born :D and i think is a "cool" box because on the contrary of mipsel boxes that are running to search power and features it is a simply a little Arm machine that don't heat and have a low power consumption. It is a single core with a dedicated 3d hardware graphics that run xbmc very weel but don't need all the power and features of e2 current boxes.
So i think is "cool" in this mean. I start to love little and low consumption machines that can do many things like powerful cpu boxes.

Can I ask

Are such things like cross epg and 1channel going to be compatible with the cube?
and would it take a lot of re-progamming to make them?

No nothing for enigma2 can work on Prismcube.
Prismcube is not XBMC + enigma2 but Prismcube is XBMC + a totally new system for pvr and dvb managment.

So channel lists, epg system, and all the rest that are part of enigma2 are totally different in Prismcube and cannot work.
Also external program in c++ like crossepg will never work in Prismcube, first because the cpu architeture is different and mipsel executables cannot run on Arm.
Second because also if you port programs from mipsel to arm architeture the epg system is different so will not work.
For this reason i told you that this is a "begin" and need time to grow.

About plugins it is another story. Plugins that are not structural for enigma2 like stream plugins cannot work but it should be possible to port under Xbmc.
Maybe i am wrong but is seems to me that 1channel was an original plugin for Xbmc ported under enigma2 so in this case it should be possible to have it in Prismcube.

The XBMC community is many time bigger then e2. Most stream plugins on enigma2 are based on the XBMC plugins. As XBMC is superior in streaming and playback from media content.
Like for example 1channel plugin this is for XBMC available and really works a lot better then the enigma2 solution.

Cross EPG here has XBMC his own solution for which still can been improved as the EPG and DVB part of enigma2 is better then the livetv EPG solution in XBMC.
The source of crossEPG is available so it probably shouldn't been very hard to make it compatible with XBMC

I think you missed something on the prismcube stand.
Beside the prismcube demo there was the "prismcube2" with 1Ghz duo core proud glowing.

It is strange for me that some ppl continue to compare PrismCube with E2 boxes. Compare it with modern mediaplayers like Dune HD and you will see that it has nothing new in terms of XBMC. Moreover, I doubt it can be better than Dune HD or iconBIT 800 3D based on special processors (Sigma Designs 8672/8673 or Realtek RTD1186DD).
As a sat receiver, PrismCube is incompatible with Solo2 and Duo2. It is just a relatively cheap solution for those who want to have the all-in-one box and save money and maybe space on a table.

I think Prismcube is more than this.
It have a new solution to manage dvb and pvr parts togheter with Xbmc and this is a really addiction and useful than separate solution multimedia system/stb.
Also i think that enigma2 is old and going to be outdated. E2 gui and graphic engine is limited and does not allow to harness the power of latest Vu+ box like solo2 and duo2.
Prismcube need time to grow and to be supported but i think it will be the future.

i think you must test the receiver and after this you post your reply ..
the prismcube is onather history :)

As Shiro said, it is not XBMC + E2. It is instead a new box with a new concept. On the other hand, what they have in common is that there are high-level code written in Python and for certain things they are trying to maintain some compatibility with some existing APIs but only to a certain extent where it is worthwhile.

Ahh...I saw those transparent boxes too but I never realized that those were newer prototypes. Good to know.

Be careful please about confidential informations.

If they were not asked to sign NDA's then all information is considered public domain.

Real secrets are not told to normal users. Most insiders will have to sign NDA's , also as boxes were on open display how can this be considered confidential?

@DJ_Sat, I would love info on how your pre-prod test rig is holding up. (providing you are not bound by an NDA of course) :)

Not true.
If Vu+ ask us tho threat informations as confidential we do so.
And if Vu+ tell me that informations about prototypes have to stay confidential i will not allow to be posted here.

Well as a forum mod that is your decision and once which of course I would respect.

There is however a famous saying.

"Don't tell anyone a secret that you don't mind everyone knowing".
in other words once you tell one person there is a real risk that it will get out and everyone will know.
Hence me stating the whole Non Disclosure Agreement part which would be legally binding while giving your word is just known as hearsay. (ones word against another)

So my question to you is, Have you @Shiro been asked to keep any information about the PC confidential by the VU+ team? and if So does this mean that the above picture will get removed?.

I'm also now even more confused with this forum.

I asked a few weeks back if it was an official forum and I was informed "no". So I guessed it was therefore run for the benefit of VU+ Sat enthusiasts to get information shared with those who care and want to know more about current and future VU+ products?.

I'm intended to move from a Dream Multimedia box over to a VU+ box in the next few weeks therefore I'm on the lookout; I guess many others for every scrap of information to help me with my decision.
Hence me being confused with the "potential" restriction that would be put on useful information.

Vuplus-community is not official Vu+ forum. Is a Black Hole image forum. And please, respect decisions of staff.
Please, read forum rules, point no. 7.
Thank you.

Don't worry about the information. Normally Marusys release quite fast information. Probably this model is still to young to speak about it.
It was coincidence I saw the unit and recognized it's design.
As the product was shown in the stand I toughed it's public info.

you can find many "bla bla" boards where to find your "useful" informations about Prismcube.

If you want really useful informations about Prismcube you have to wait because it is not time yet. Not because there are stupid restrictions but simply because is too early.
And ppl going around with sensationalistic posts simply don't know. Don't know what is the state of the sources and latest hardware test results. Don't know how many things have been to completed yet.

If you want to move from a Dream Multimedia box over to a VU+ box and you need real information about Vu+ box you have to go for the box in the market like vu+ solo2 or the duo2 available next month.
Prismcube is Marusys and is a new project.
